2025 State of Atlanta Black Tech Ecosystem Summi

Scheduling the summit got off to rocky start, eventually going virtual due to back-to-back snow storms... in Atlanta! But it's all good because they've got an in-person town hall at The Gathering Spot on February 1st. The main idea? To get the community together, make a plan, and actually take action, not just talk. Joey Womack, Goodie Nation founder and ATL BLK TCH co-founder, set us up well, right from the introduction, sharing his thoughts about positive and neutral thinking, reversing negativity, and focusing on facts.

They had content covering all the bases: a dramatic reading by Andrea Perry, a fireside chat with Fanbase founder, Isaac Hayes III, along with panels on K-12 computer science education, the tech workforce, and startups/investing. There was a big emphasis on supporting Black tech and ditching platforms that don't support them. Key takeaways included the importance of community, needing more access to tech, resources, and funding for Black folks. It's all about mentoring, investing, and backing Black founders and tech pros.

Also, they're pushing the community to share at least 1,000 job opportunities this year, so let's help each other out. The goal is to work together, create opportunities, and face challenges head-on in Atlanta's Black tech scene.
